Avoid Cravings and Weight Gain!    Many people are afraid to quit cigarettes because they fear weight gain and cravings or other withdrawal symptoms. Do you skip meals, especially breakfast? At what cost? Not only do you miss out on much needed nutrition, you inhale all the poisons and toxins of the cigarette – a double negative whammy! What you probably don’t know is that many of the […]

Toxic nicotine replacement ‘therapy’ in pregnancy… under researched & dangerous?

Many women quit smoking easily as soon as they discover they are expecting a baby; others unfortunately struggle to quit even though they may want to. A new program in the Hunter Valley, Australia is attempting to address this issue and is aimed at reducing smoking rates in pregnant Aboriginal women by the use of Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT). The program also plans to provide Nicotine Replacement free of charge to the families of those seeking to quit smoking, making it a family affair where members can presumably provide support and accountability to each other. There is no question that […]

Is it really possible to ‘control’ everything that goes into your body?

It’s Easter Time!! and I don’t know about you but I looove Easter Eggs. However I did manage to restrain myself to about two. The thing is though I was detemined to enjoy the ones I ate, I was not going to sit there and feel guilty about it and this brings me to today’s post. I am all for healthy eating and healthy living but here’s the thing I do not believe it is possible to control everything that affects my body. Are you sick of being told what to do?

Do it! Are we living in a ‘Nanny State’? There are so many people willing to tell us what to do these days we hardly know whether we are coming or going! How do we know what is right?? Surely we are grown up enough to make our own decisions, the trouble is we need information upon which to base our decisions. Conflicting opinions abound and who has time to do […]

Medicating depression, symptoms of mental illness, or even normal life reactions when it is not necessary or even appropriate is something that makes me REALLY MAD! So I am thrilled that this new film ‘The Marketing of Madness’ has been made – in fact I wish I had made it myself! Having said that, I believe there are situations where medications have been useful, even life-saving. So what is the truth? Whose agenda is valid? About the film: “If you, a loved one, or anyone you know is taking drugs recommended by an MD or Psychiatrist for Anxiety, Depression, Bi-Polar, […]

If you had an ‘identical’ twin would you always look the same?

My father is an identical twin. (that’s not them by the way) He and his brother were so good at duplicating themselves they had  sixteen children between them. Well not between THEM..with their respective wives! Oddly enough, not one of these offspring produced twins themselves and as far as I know none of the grandchildren have either…but I digress. My father and uncle were born with the same genes. EXACTLY the same and as boys they were very alike. Family could tell them apart but strangers had difficulty. This of course was always fun when introducing new boyfriends and teasing the grandchildren. […]
