70% of smokers want to quit but they don’t…WHY?
Everyone knows that cigarettes are bad for their health, and everyone knows that they spend too much money buying them, yet people continue to smoke cigarettes…
so why don’t people quit cigarettes?
We are all different and there are many reasons why this happens, including:
- Not wanting to gain weight
- Not wanting to experience the withdrawal symptoms
- Not believing they have the willpower to quit
- Wanting to relieve stress and relax
- Wanting to avoid unwanted emotions
- Believing they are ‘addicted’ to nicotine
The biggest reason of all? Because smoking cigarettes is not actually under your control!
How many cigarettes a day do you actually enjoy? If you’re like most people,- maybe 4-5. All the others you smoke unconsciously, without thinking about it.
Smoking cigarettes is usually done by your unconscious mind.
Do you remember when you first learnt to drive? At first you had to consciously think about it, but now when you drive you go down the road eating your lunch, playing with the stereo, talking on your phone.
You drive unconsciously.
So…when you first started to smoke you did it consciously, but now it’s something that your unconscious mind does automatically.
You must address the Triggers, Reasons and Excuses for Smoking
Unless we deal with the individual factors, unique to each person, you won’t have any success quitting cigarettes long term. If you really think about it, you only smoke in specific circumstances, for example , when you first get out of bed, with your first cuppa, or perhaps when you need a break from work or a feeling you don’t enjoy. We help you find other ways of dealing with stress; and other things to do in your habitual smoking situations.
